It is strange how often a heart must be broken before the years can make it wise. -Sarah Teasedale
Sometimes he calls Sarah Blake just to hang up on her. He’d never tell Dean because his brother wouldn’t understand or maybe it’s that he
would understand with such clarity that it would become this thing between them. Dean and Sam have enough between them, they don’t need Sam’s colassal relationship issues there too.
See, after Madison, he’s pretty certain every girl he’s ever had a relationship with is cursed. The universe is out to get him and sometimes he thinks it’s because his name is Winchester. Other times he knows it’s only because his name is Samuel Winchester. It’s because of something that happened when he was six months old that he still doesn’t understand.
So he calls Sarah Blake just to hear that she’s okay and hangs up before she can figure out who the guy trying hard not to breathe at all is on the other end of the phone. She is his proof that his kiss doesn’t kill and not everyone he could potentially care about will die. She is the comfort he takes in the middle of the night when nightmares about Jess or Madison wake him up.
Somehow along the way Sarah evolved from one date and a kiss to someone that saves Sam’s sanity.
